Glorious Glass

Why not make the most of glorious glass? Glass box garden rooms echo iconic modernist architecture such as The Glass House (or Johanson House) in Connecticut. That striking building was designed by Philip Johnson and was completed in 1949. It may have inspired the famous Farnsworth House in Illinois which was designed by Ludwig Mies van der Rohe and completed in 1951.

A glass box garden room consists of a solid structure that forms the floor, roof and rear wall of the building. The room is created by a frameless glass cube. Extensive glazing enables natural light to flood the building and creates an almost seamless transition from the garden to the interior space. Completed by metal cladding, a glass box garden room is overtly contemporary and yet sits comfortably in any surroundings.

Elegant Curves

Garden rooms needn’t be angular structures. Our design concepts may incorporate elegant and dramatic curves to produce somewhat futuristic yet organic structures that will always draw the eye. Curves can deliver truly unique creations and such striking architecture will transform your garden in an instant.

Creative with Colour

Many garden rooms are designed with a view to complementing a property or outside space. In other words, they are crafted to blend into their surroundings. Of course, great design will always stand out but if you are looking for contrast or something truly striking, we can use interior and exterior colour to create the required effect.

Garden room design methodology

Garden room design is challenging. It is imperative to consider the building’s intended function, its location, the desired aesthetics, and any regulations that might limit what can be built. The devil is always in the detail and so garden room designs and concepts must be evolved with care and cannot be rushed.

  • Functionality sits at the heart of every design. The proposed function of the space is the starting point of each concept, and potential future uses for the building must also be considered.
  • Architecture is a matter of personal taste. We must evolve concepts boasting aesthetics that appeal to our clients and also those that suit the properties concerned. Working with our clients, we establish whether garden rooms should blend in or stand out.
  • Individuality and flair will always lend a special dimension to any design. That flair could be manifested in avant-garde shaping, unusual materials, bold colours or stylish finishing touches.
  • It takes a brave designer and an even more courageous client to dare to be different. But the rewards for bravery can be significant. A stunning and unique building will elevate any property, increase its value and improve the lifestyle of all who live there.
